Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our CAD Supervisor position. Under the direction of the Manager of Engineering the CAD Supervisor performs various duties of drafting, design, plan reproduction and plan recording for the City along with supervising the work of 2 Draftspersons engaged in similar work.  

This position will perform the following duties:
-    Design and manage land and capital projects
-    Plan, co-ordinate, assign and review the duties of the 2 Draftspersons ensuring efficiency and maintaining standards of work
-    Ensure the recording and filing of all record drawings/as-built drawings and plans of the City
-    Develop and present for final approval designs of proposed subdivisions, including utility designs
-    Review all subdivision applications to ensure compliance
-    Review, collect data and prepare data in an easy to understand format on confidential inquiries regarding proposed subdivision developments
-    Recommend software, equipment and related material purchases for the drafting division
-    Project, monitor and control expenditures of the budget for the drafting division
-    Address counter and telephone inquiries from the general public, administrative staff and outside agencies

Qualified candidates will have education and experience obtained through the completion of a Diploma in Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology plus additional courses in urban and municipal planning and design, along with 5 years' experience in municipal drafting. Additionally, preferred candidates will possess:
-    Thorough knowledge of zoning, planning and design standards as well as the ability to utilize Computer Aided Design and related equipment
-    Ability to work independently and establish priorities; supervise and effectively direct employees
-    Effective interpersonal skills
-    Knowledge of budgeting process and cost analysis
-    A valid Class 5 driver's license
