As a Diamond Grader you are responsible for performing the preliminary diamond grading process on natural and synthetic diamonds prior to submitting these to the American Gem Society or GIA Laboratory for Diamond Grading Services. You will work with diamonds, microscopes and computers in a team production environment that emphasizes detail, quality and precision.
The successful applicant is expected to meet the following criteria:
We have a full-time opening for a Diamond Grader.
Must have a GIA diamond grading and diamond essentials diploma, diamond graduate preferred.
Must be authorized to work in Canada.
Must be fluent in English and Mandarin
GIA or related Diamond Grading Diploma required as the candidate will be expected to complete his/her AGS Credentials.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in a team production environment to perform the preliminary diamond grading process.
Follow each laboratorys grading methodology and procedures for locating, identifying and documenting clarity characteristics, treatments, and other features present in the diamond.
Assign clarity, polish and symmetry grades according to each laboratorys procedures in accordance with the respective Diamond Grading System(s).
Verify or determine various measurements and proportions according to standard procedures.
Read and implement procedural updates pertinent to his/her job duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or Bachelors degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
GIA Diamond Graduate diploma preferred.
Basic computer skills and ability to work with a microscope.
The candidate must be in good health and must have no substance addictions (caffeine is permissible, even recommended).
