POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with the health and safety team, you will be responsible for supporting the workplace health and safety programs through education and leadership. Key functions of the position are:
Supervising and providing mentorship/leadership to safety technicians
Providing technical support to the site on safety issues
Ensuring compliance to all relevant regulatory requirements with regards to the fire protection program, the emergency preparedness and response program and the occupational health and safety program
Conducting work to meet requirements as outlined in Camecos safety standards
Assisting in planning and delivery of mine rescue training and emergency response training
Assessing the safety program and implementing improvements
Delivering safety training programs to supervisors and employees
Incident command in times of crisis
Maintenance of safety equipment, fire hall and response trailers
Facilitating inspections, internal audits and incident investigations
Promoting a good working relationship with other groups and departments
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements of the position:
Diploma in occupational health and safety, or relevant technology
Five to eight years of relevant work experience
Qualified mine rescue and emergency response instructor
Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
Willing to work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Assets:
Canadian registered safety professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation
