Duties include:
- Identify and connect with people, places and groups that will appreciate assets of people with varying abilities.
- Develop, implement, and promote supported volunteerism and/or employment services as a means of community inclusion.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of meaningful community opportunities for individuals with varying abilities.
- Identify the assets and gifts of the people you support, taking direction from them as to how they would like to connect and participate in the community.
- Create opportunities for community members and agencies to connect to individuals with varying abilities.
- Develop job placements by assessing community needs and partnering with businesses and organizations in Swift Current for the purpose of creating job opportunities.
- Provide guidance, support, resources and tools to clients in their employment or volunteer role to ensure a successful match.
- Recruit community members to volunteer with individuals with varying abilities.
- Develop and coordinate social supports to assist participants in learning self-management skills, and encourage independence through the development of skills training and individual goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in the human service field or equivalent professional designation obtained through post secondary & a minimum of 2 years related experience.
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence and working vehicle.
Skills:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with individuals with varying abilities, co-workers, and community supports.
- Knowledge of community resources for volunteer/employment placement purposes.
The final candidates are required to provide a satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Sector record check.
