The Post-Secondary Coordinator will manage & administer the post-secondary funds & keep full & accurate records. This position is responsible for coordinating Thunderchild First Nation's (TCFN) Post-Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP) funded through the Indigenous & Northern Affairs Canada & supporting adult learners from TCFN in pursuing & completing post-secondary education on & off reserve. This position is responsible for assisting students in understanding the INAC & TCFN Post-Secondary Funding policies, supporting students with the post-secondary funding application process & throughout their educational years, as sponsored students. He/She is responsible for managing & reporting on the overall PSSSP budget, maintaining student accounts for tuition, books & living allowances according to INAC's guidelines.
Duties:
Take the lead in processing student sponsorship applications & making sponsorship decisions.
Incorporate creative strategies through various mediums to explain the post-secondary process, support students in accessing information from education institutions.
Assist individuals with the Post-Secondary application and sponsorship process.
Manage the Post-Secondary funding budget & manage the external students' sponsorship accounts for tuition, books & supplies at each student's college/university.
Responsible for all reporting on PSSSP budget, managing students' monthly living allowances.
Liase with post-secondary institutes
Work with students to develop their education road map to success
Develop an effective communication strategy (digital & print)
Maintain record keeping system
Assist with writing proposals
Qualifications:
B.Ed, B.S.W.
3-5 yrs experience working in First Nations Community, coordinating programs & managing large complex budgets
2 yrs. office admin experience & experience supporting/coaching students
Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, Access experience
Social Media savvy & knowledge of communcation platforms
