Job duties are as follows:
Coordination with subcontractors for the preparation of material take-offs, or perform in-house.
Manage and be accountable for the performance of the Estimating Department.
Obtaining quotations for materials, freight, subcontract work, and related duties.
Preparing detailed estimates and schedules.
Review thoroughly and understand project specifications.
Communication of details to the Project Manager prior to proceeding with the estimate.
Work with the Project Manager to estimate labour, total project hours and procedures.
Writing of proposals for clients.
Gen. terms and conditions for quotes on projects.
Produce Product Quotation Information Summary.
Source new suppliers and updates the ERP supplier database as needed.
Assist in preparation of contracts, negotiations and revisions with subcontractors.
Support the negotiation and closing of sales from a technical perspective.
Work with and manage the estimating team.
Qualifications:
Engineering Degree (mechanical) or Technologist Diploma preferred.
Able to read and interpret blue prints.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7 to 10 years trade experience in a fabrication or other manufacturing facility along with 5 years estimating experience.
Proven competency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
Able to manage multiple deadlines.
Very good familiarity in steel fabrication for plate, structural, and pressure vessel
Capability of drawing or modeling in 3D (Tekla, Solidworks, Autocad inventor) and 2D shop drawing
Familiar with bill of materials (BOM) structure for Fabrication
Familiar with Erection, detailed shop, structural connections, assembly drawings
Experience in designing for custom fabrication and modularization
Excellent knowledge of welding symbols
Familiar with the following standards ASME, AWS, CWB, API
