Description

This position is responsible to promote the First Nations human resource objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops organization strategies by identifying & researching human resources issues; making recommendations to organization strategic direction
Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, employee benefits, training & development, records management, safety & health, succession planning, employee relations, retention & labor relations.
Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, maintaining compensation & customer-service strategies, accumulating resources, resolving problems, implementing change.
Develops human resource operations financial strategies, developing action plans
Accomplishes special project results, communicating & coordinating requirements; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action.
Supports management by providing human resources advice
Guides management & employee actions by researching & updating policies, procedures, methods, & guidelines
Complies with federal & First Nation legal requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences, educational opportunities & maintaining personal networks
Conduct other related work

REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a 4 year college/university, preferably with specialization in Human Resources or a related field; or any equivalent combination or experience & training.
Professional designation preferred
Considerable experience working in a First Nation community & knowledgeable of human resource issues
Ability to communicate effectively to groups & individuals
Strong computer literacy skills
Team player with professional work ethic
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Valid Class 5 DL and drivers abstract
