The Grand Coteau Heritage & Cultural Centre is the premiere cultural facility in the southwest, serving the artistic and cultural heritage aspirations of the 15,000 people in the region. Offering heritage based research services, a natural heritage museum, an art gallery, displays from the 12,000 piece heritage collection and a community room, this two floor facility, which includes the local library, attracts thousands of visitors annually to exhibitions, events, workshops and other cultural activities.
Reporting to the CAO, the Museum Director is a senior position working with minimal supervision and is responsible for:
Budget preparation
Supervision of staff and volunteers
Program and Exhibit development
Tourism
Administration of the care and conservation of collections
Public Relations
Grant Writing
Fundraising
The ideal candidate will possess a formal education in history, museum studies, administration or a related field, with three to five years managerial experience in a cultural or non-profit organization. Combination of experience and education may be considered. Basic knowledge of history of Shaunavon & area considered an asset.
