Applications are invited for a temporary 1.0 FTE Itinerant Teacher Librarian position for the Grenfell Elementary/High and North Valley Elementary schools commencing on August 30, 2016 and ending January 19, 2017.
As an instructional leader, the Teacher Librarian has several responsibilities:
Collaborating with teachers to identify resources that support provincial curricula outcomes and developing strategies for integrating these resources into instructional programs;
Collaborating with teachers to plan instruction and assessment to support curricular outcomes, with particular focus on literacy;
Collaborating with teachers to integrate activities and resources that develop information literacy outcomes across curricula;
Working with students, teaching them to locate information appropriate to their needs, assess its relevance, use it for educational purposes, share it with others, and integrate it with what they already know to create new knowledge and new understandings;
Assisting students, teachers and administrators to use technologies to locate, use and share information and ideas;
Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to select resources for inclusion in the school library, and to weed the collection so it reflects the schools educational needs and the criteria in the school divisions selection policy;
Managing the school library program and all activities related;
Implementing procedures, developing and managing school library budgets, monitoring staff, and managing the facility;
Planning for evaluation of the school library and its educational program;
Developing partnerships with other libraries and organizations in the community and the province to expand and enhance the resources and services available to students and teachers.
