Under the direction of the Counsellor Coordinator, the Camp Counsellor is responsible for the safety and enjoyment of campers at all times.
Duties Include:
-Providing personal care to campers with physical and/or intellectual disabilities ages 6 to over 65
-Creating an environment in which campers can experience emotional growth and development
-Ensuring campers have an enjoyable vacation through various program areas
-Documenting and reporting relevant information regarding the campers health and safety; includes camper reports
-Maintaining cabins and surrounding area in a neat and orderly fashion
-Under the direction of the Camp Nurse, may be responsible for medication administration to campers
-Other duties as specified by the Counsellor Coordinator
Qualifications:
Education:
-Grade 12 or equivalent (must be available May to August)
-Postsecondary students (must be available May to August)
Skills:
-Ability to work with people with varying abilities
-Effective interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
-Oral communication skills
-Positive attitude
