Description

Seeking an individual to join the team in the Department of Transportation and Environment. Primary responsibilities are related to the maintenance of the transportation and utility distribution networks.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-    High School Diploma or G.E.D required
-    Valid Class 5 Driver's license
-    Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
-    The following skills are preferred but not necessary:
*Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manner (i.e. backhoe, loader, fork-lift, 3-ton, sander unit, sewer auger equipment)
*Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required.
*Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
* Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
* Experience as mechanic or operator of all types of Town-owned small and heavy equipment
* Certifications in: First Aid & CPR, Fall Arrest, Ground Disturbance, Power Mobile Equipment, Confined Space

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting the functions of the department including but not limited to:
* Street Maintenance
* Painting street lines, hydrants, and curbs
* Traffic Control
* Drainage
* Mosquito Control
* Maintain sewage lagoon, pump house and lift stations
* Maintain curb stops, valves and fire hydrants in co-operation with Fire Department and Water Treatment Plant
* Sidewalk repairs
* Parking lot and town yard maintenance
* Perform sewer augers
* Grave openings/closings at the cemetery
* Perform other duties as assigned

This is a full-time in-scope labourer position. Standard hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with additional callouts, holiday and weekend work with overtime as required.
