Description

This position is full-time and will be located out of the Kinistin Saulteaux Nation offices for the first three months. Subsequently, the work location will potentially change to Yellow Quill First Nation (which is in close proximity to Kinistin). Work may be required at other STC First Nations as well. The individual we are seeking possesses an ability to work from both a community development/ support framework; a prevention perspective; and a least intrusive measure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Perform effective child protection and family support services including:
-Investigating reports of abuse and neglect;
-Providing counselling, support services and/or referral services;
-Work with families to develop plans to strengthen families;
-Develop a plan for each child and provide support to the caregivers and parents.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
BISW or BSW, CISW or CSW may be considered with relevant Human Service experience;
Knowledge of the FSIN Indian Child Welfare and Family Support Act and The Child and Family Services Act;
A minimum one year direct child protection experience or two year general child welfare experience
An understanding of the dynamics of First Nations family systems;
Knowledge of case management and crisis intervention procedures;
Knowledge of child protection and children in care services;
Knowledgeable of risk assessments and family assessment;
Working knowledge of computer software applications (MS Office, email);
Willingness to work flexible schedule of hours;
Must possess a valid Saskatchewan drivers license and meet STCs insurance requirements;
Must provide a current, original Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and Automated Child Abuse Record check at time of interview; and
Must be eligible to be registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Work Association.
