Description

NorthSask Special Needs(NSN) works to provide enhanced opportunities for vulnerable people to access support, prevention and education services and to have safe and appropriate housing, meaningful employment, and rewarding recreational activities.
The Supported Independent Living Worker will assist and support individuals to make healthy choices that maximize their potential and quality of life.  Support work may involve helping with personal care; budgeting and managing finances; providing transportation in and outside of the community; accessing health and community services; attending events in the community, participating in social and/or recreational activities. The nature and amount of support work will vary depending on the individuals specific needs and goals. There are no set or guaranteed hours of employment for this position.
Key responsibilities:
1. Work one on one with individuals and their families/supports to determine which areas of life can be enhanced through support
2. Meet with each individual at scheduled times and provide support and assistance to accomplish whatever goal/activity is planned for that day
3. Collaborate with other community resources, develop community contacts and continually explore new opportunities for the individual in the community
4. Track and manage your own time and activities
5. Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and skills
Qualifications:
-Post secondary education in a related field is an asset
-Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families/supports
-Sensitivity and compassion for others
-The ability to work and solve problems independently
-Good organizational, scheduling and time management skills
-Valid driver's license
-Ability to work flexible hours
