Role:
The role of the coach is to help foster the development of the program and athletes, working with coaches and communicating with parents regarding athlete's progress. It is expected that the coach be a role model to other coaches and to other athletes and that they conduct themselves according to Cheer Saskatchewan Code of Conduct.
Main Responsibility:
- Attendance at all coaches clinics and meetings.
- Thorough knowledge and ability to teach skills according to team level.
- Demonstration of excellent communication skills, effectively communicating with children of all ages, parents, co-workers and supervisors.
- Use of encouragement and positive reinforcement during instruction.
- Demonstrating useful and appropriate spotting technique
- Independent work ethic and leadership
- Positive role model
- Coach athletes including lesson planning
- Work with other coaches to determine appropriate levels of athletes
- Set targets for program and determine athlete's goals
- produce athlete evaluations
- meet with parent's regarding athlete's goals and progress
- maintain communication regarding athletes, coaches and program with direct supervisor
- ensure that equipment and floor space is cleaned and well maintained
Qualifications:
NCCP certified Level 1 or USAF, or equivalent education/experience
