Description

The File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council is currently seeking a highly motivated, result-oriented Director Education.  This is unique and challenging opportunity to work where your experience, creative thinking and exceptional skills will be appreciated.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, supervision, planning and delivery to the education programs of the FHQ Tribal Council.  The Director of Education will provide advice and assist in the negotiation, development and management of provincial tuition agreements that meet the needs of the FHQ First Nations.  Also provide assistance to the FHQ First Nations in areas of elementary, secondary and post-secondary education programming.  Other responsibilities include annual budget preparation and expenditure control over funding administered by the Tribal Council's education programs.

This position requires an experienced knowledgeable individual to maintain an effective team approach in areas pertaining to education and maintain working relationships with funding agencies, various government agencies and First Nations.  The ability to plan and lead change are key.
The candidate should possess the following:
Master of Education and eligibility for Associate Membership in League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents (LEADS)
At least five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary and secondary levels with experience in Provincial and First Nation school systems
Experience in First Nations as second level service provider at a regional or Tribal Council level
Thorough understanding and experience working with First Nations, Provincial and Federal government
Superior interpersonal and communication skills

Superior interpersonal, communications, research and analytical skills;
Skills in both program and staff evaluation.
