The Light and Power Department is accepting applications for an Electrical Engineering Technologist or Journeyperson Electrican. This is a permanent
full-time position with consideration given to Electrical Engineering Technologist students who are nearing completion of the Diploma program. Under the supervision of the Technical Superintendent of Light and Power, this position performs a variety of engineering assignments associated with planning, design, inspection, construction, maintenance, operation and improvement of the Electrical System, as well for utility revenue metering including analysis, testing and reporting.
Basic Requirements:
Grade 12 and Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrcian Certificate.
Electrical Engineering Technologists must be certified or eligible for certification as an Applied Science Technologist by the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT)
Journeyperson Electricans must have a minimum of 2 years as journeyperson, be able to obtain permits under the Electrical Inspections Act and have experience in an electric utility or industrial setting.
Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Motor Vehicle operator's license
Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer
Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of engineering and related software, including AutoCAD, Excel, Access, etc.
Physical aptitude to perform the job
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
Ability to apply right mathematical methods and formulas to problem solving
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Excellent time management and project management skills
Ability to interpret and implement Citys policies and procedures
