We are seeking a seasonal student Tourism Advisor to be an ambassador for Kindersley and area. Reporting to the Manager of Culture & Heritage, this position is focused on managing the local Tourism Booth by developing & promoting local opportunities in an effort to attract visitors & enhance the cultural experiences of local residents. The Advisor will assist local & outside visitors with their travel & service needs.
Qualifications
Driver's license an asset
Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Word, Excel, & email
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills & ability to work with senior members of the administrative team & capable of fostering & maintaining effective working relationships
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Strong public relations skills
Dedicated to ongoing learning & professional development
Able to work flexible hours
Responsibilities
Customer Service - assisting clients with restaurant, activity & lodging suggestions; developing maps for travelers, offering information on road conditions & assist with campground bookings
Development of Travel & Activity packages - research & connect with local businesses to develop & maintain up to date information on visitor experience opportunities. Packages are designed to offer locals & visitors with day trips & experiences within the region
Major Local events - assist Culture & Heritage Manager to plan & facilitate large community events (ie. Canada Day) that attract visitors & promote the community
Partnerships - work in partnership with the Culture & Heritage Manager, Inn Keepers & Hospitality Association, Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Association, Kindersley & District Plains Museum & cultural community to respond to visitor needs & enhance the overall experience
Work closely with Tourism SK to promote local, regional & provincial attractions & to help them deliver their programs & services
