The care of our two children - ages 5 and 7 - in our home. Our eldest has a disability and is unable to walk, talk, toilet or feed herself.
Job Duties:
Supervise, feed and care for children
Administer daily medication for our eldest.
Organize, activities such as games and homework
Tend to the emotional well-being of children
Take children to and from school, appointments, activities, park, etc.
Bathe, dress, read to and feed our children
Assist our daughter with her daily physical needs, preparing her for school, transferring her from her wheelchair to other areas of the house
Assist our daughter with her daily physiotherapy, standing and walking sessions. Documentation of these sessions are necessary for consistency throughout the day
Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
Prepare and serve nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks
Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
Perform light housekeeping duties (meal preparation, laundry, etc.)
Skills Required:
First Aid and CPR training, criminal record check, completion of secondary school, and a minimum of 1 year previous work experience as a full time Caregiver for children
Applicant must be a non-smoker
The ability to communicate fluently orally and in writing in English
Completion of secondary education (grade 12 diploma)
1 year of work experience as a Caregiver for children
6 months of an in-class caregiver training course would be considered an asset
Experience with special needs children/persons would be considered an asset
Wage: $15.00 per hour working 40 hours/week & 5 days/week plus overtime when necessary. Overtime rate at 1.5 times the regular pay for hours worked over 44 hours/week.
