Description

Providing direction and assistance to senior managers regarding human resource issues and indirect supervision of all employees through the approved chain of command; Ensuring that staff operates within the Personnel and Finance Policy and Procedure Manuals;
Developing communications with MLCN membership to maintain an open and trusting relationship;
Coordinating prompt follow up action in response to community complaints or problems;
Preparing a monthly and annual activity report;
Participating in regular supervision and an annual performance evaluation with the Chief and Council;
Periodically evaluating each of the program areas effectiveness and efficiency;
Periodically evaluating the organizational structure and recommending revisions as necessary.
In consultation with the senior managers, preparing an annual and three-year forecasted budget for approval by Chief and Council and providing quarterly reports on its progress;
Ensuring appropriate systems and procedures are developed and implemented to provide budgetary control; Coordinating, chairing, and following up on regular senior management team meetings;
Guiding senior management in the development of departmental annual work plans that are in-line with organizational goals and objectives;
Planning for, preparing and following up on proposals for projected-oriented activities;
Overseeing the project management of contracts with consultants and contractors as required;
Planning, organizing, and following up on regular and special meetings/workshops of Council and providing recommendations and input into matters as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
Along with a degree in business administration or public administration, our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a senior executive position for a First Nation, public sector or government service agency along with a proven track record of success.
