Description

The USSU Childcare Centre, which provides care for children aged 18 months to 6 years of age, has been in operation on the University of Saskatchewan campus since 1992 and has recently expanded its operations from 66 childcare spaces to 156 spaces.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the financial activities of both USSU Childcare Centres: the Williams Building and McEown Park locations, and will be directly accountable to the Executive Director.  The Financial Manager is responsible for financial activities, including payroll, vacation tracking, budget and financial statements.  The position is anticipated to be less than 1 full-time equivalent.

Key responsibilities include:
Primarily responsible for the accounting of two Centres (156 children, 35+ staff) including payroll, vacation and EDO planning, budget development and maintenance as well as annual audit reports
Assist with orienting new staff with respect to payroll and benefits to the Centre
Primary liaison with University payroll and human resources contacts
Liaison with benefits (including pension) provider and regular review of rate schedules
Accounting, data collection, and payroll in compliance with the Collective Agreement

Knowledge & Skills
Strong accounting skills and the ability to work independently
Familiarity with the structure and operations of non-profit organizations and/or the U of S is an asset
Knowledge of provincially endorsed early childhood care programs and reporting requirements

Training & Qualifications
Knowledge of Computer Programs
Diploma or significant experience in accounting, business or other financial activity
Valid First Aid/CPR

Experience
Significant experience in an accounting capacity
Ability to meet a variety of strict deadlines  

Salary
Starting at $37,576 per year, subject to review depending on prior experience and qualifications.
