Join us for the summer at the Conservatory of Performing Arts for 1 to 5 weeks of creative teaching with students ages 3-18. We are looking for instructors who like working with children and who have experience in drama/theatre, visual arts, dance, and music. 5 weeks of full and half day camps run from July 4 - August 5, 2016.
Qualifications
1-2 years post-secondary education (or higher) in the following degree areas: Bachelor of Education; Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts, Dance, Music, or Theatre; Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Art, Dance, Music, or Theatre; or other related fields
Role
-create age appropriate arts lessons based on Conservatory camp description with freedom to develop specific curricula to explore throughout the week
-supervise and manage 8- 20 students in a solo or co-operative teaching environment (depending on the age of participants and specific course)
-plan effective and engaging arts lessons to fill a 6 hour class day
-create a gallery show or short performance to showcase at the end of the week on Friday
Summer 2016 High Interest Skills
-interest in Harry Potter and the wizarding world
-experience working in stop motion animation and with animation software
-theatre experience with focus on stage combat/fight choreography and one act plays
-comic book or graphic novel creation or vested interest in visual storytelling
-puppetry creation and performance
-experience creating in a variety of First Nations art forms (powwow dance/regalia, beadwork, quillwork, and others)
-contemporary dance for preschool ages
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sectors search, must be submitted to the Program Coordinator before the beginning of your employment period or you will not be able to work in these camps.
