Duties and responsibilities:
The Mental Health Drop-In Centre offers an evening life enrichment program for individuals who want to get together, socialize and enjoy what Yorkton has to offer. This group gets together twice a week in the evenings and/or the weekends. Activities are planned on a monthly basis and take into account the groups interests as well as events going on in Yorkton and area. We are looking for an individual who is compassionate, honest, person centered, team player and accountable for their performance. You must enjoy working with others, specifically individuals who are experiencing mental health disability and/or symptoms.
Duties include:
- Engage clients on an individual and/or group basis
- Provide supportive assistance for the physical/emotional well being of clients
- Attend regularly scheduled programs and special events of interest to clients
- Facilitate programming as scheduled and work collaboratively with team members
- Monitor and report any changes in client behaviour to the Program Coordinator, Mental Health Drop-In Centre
- Participate in the activities planned
- Provide direction and hands on training to volunteers and/or practicum students
- Supervise coffee and lunch breaks when necessary
- Transport clients to community activities and venues
- Participate in staff training/educational opportunities
- Participate in project staff meetings
- Follow work schedule, including evening and weekend work
- Maintain client documentation according to Mental Health Drop-in Centre standards including completion of Incident Reports, Contact Records
Qualifications:
Education:
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence, must have access to a reliable vehicle that can be used for work and transporting clients as well as package policy
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification
- Direct Support Worker Certificate is an asset
