Description

The Legislative Assembly Service of Saskatchewan (LAS) exists to support and enhance parliamentary democracy and the institution of the Legislature for the benefit of the people of Saskatchewan. All employees of the Legislative Assembly Service are required to provide non-partisan, confidential service to all Members of the Legislative Assembly.

Reporting to the Clerk Assistant this position is responsible for the coordination of administrative and logistical services provided to Standing and Special Committees of the Legislative Assembly. The Committee Coordinator serves as Committee Clerk to assigned Standing and Special Committees. These duties include preparing minutes, agendas and reports and providing impartial advice on parliamentary procedure.  

As the ideal candidate, you are a team player who is able to plan and organize workloads to meet strict deadlines as well as conflicting and changing priorities; exercise a high level of flexibility, diplomacy and neutrality while working in a dynamic parliamentary environment; and analyze and organize information in a clear and concise manner. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to explain parliamentary procedure to Members, officials of public/private organizations, associations and community groups, the media and the public.
Typically the competencies for this position would be attained through the completion of a university degree in the humanities, social sciences, business administration or law or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a parliamentary setting. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in a Legislative Assembly or parliament.    

There is a requirement to work flexible hours and some travel may be required.
