Description

Vertex is currently accepting applications for numerous, project based Emergency Medical Technicians. The successful candidates must be registered & in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP). Ideal candidates will have previous relevant experience within the forestry industry providing emergency medical services. These positions offer project based shifts dependent on business demand. Individuals will be contacted to assist with front line forest fire response in extremely remote locations across Saskatchewan. The successful candidates must be able to mobilize promptly & enjoy the outdoors.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
-Registered EMT with the SCoP
-Experience as an EMT preferred; experience in an industrial or remote setting
-Knowledge of Federal & Provincial regulations regarding health services
-Establish priorities, work independently & proceed with objectives with minimal supervision
-Ability to demonstrate clear judgment in fast pace & high stress environments
-Valid Class 5 Drivers License; a recent drivers abstract may be required
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide advanced first aid/medical aid, in line with Federal & Provincial regulations
-Provide medical assessments & treatment plans & implement follow up with evaluation of care
-Responsible for the set up medical treatment center (MTC) unit/first aid station in order to optimize response time; account for individual site locations, transportation routes, & nearby medical facilities
-Manage sensitive, confidential information
-Maintain accurate & confidential medical records in accordance with established medical records protocol
-Complete required safety & operational paperwork  
-Maintaining equipment & ensure supplies are current & in working order
-Keep MTC unit in excellent functioning condition by completing various tasks
