Description

Vertex is currently accepting applications for numerous,project based Emergency Medical Responders. The successful candidates must be registered & in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics(SCoP). Ideal candidates will have previous relevant experience within the forestry industry providing emergency medical services. These positions offer project based shifts dependent on business demand. Individuals will be contacted to assist with front line forest fire response in extremely remote locations across Saskatchewan. The successful candidates must be able to mobilize promptly & enjoy the outdoors.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
-Registered Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) with the SCoP
-Experience as an EMR preferred; experience in an industrial or remote setting beneficial
-Knowledge of Federal & Provincial health services regulations  
-Establish priorities, work independently & proceed with objectives with minimal supervision
-Demonstrate clear judgment in fast pace & high stress environments
-Class 5 Driver's License; a recent drivers abstract may be required
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide advanced first aid/medical aid, in line with Federal and Provincial regulations
-Provide medical assessments & treatment plans & implement follow up with evaluation of care
-Responsible for the set up medical treatment center (MTC) unit/first aid station in order to optimize response time; must account for the characteristic of site locations, transportation roads, & nearby medical facilities  
-Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, follow established medical records protocol
-Ensure all required safety and operational paperwork is complete, organized & submitted within established timelines
-Maintaining equipment/ensure supplies are current & in working order
-Ensure the MTC is in excellent functioning condition by completing various tasks
