Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head Librarian, the Assistant Librarian oversees staff, acting as a role model to foster service excellence and a positive work environment. The position is responsible for services to young adults, and participates in planning and operationalizing library goals. This position offers a variety of responsibilities at a thriving and developing small city library.
Representative Duties:
Responsible for all young adult services
Programming, reference, and circulation
Assist with collection management
Staff training and scheduling
Supervise fiscal arrangements for the receipt and payment of funds
Fill in for staff, including the Head Librarian, as required
Participate in regional and provincial committees and working groups
Maintain library website
Requirements:
MLIS from a recognized educational institute or Library Technician diploma with relevant experience
Knowledge of collection development principles and procedures
Knowledge of library automated systems
Strong skills using current information technology tools and software
Experience supervising staff
Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to organize and plan effectively
Demonstrated ability to be a flexible, open minded and creative individual
Current criminal record check and valid drivers license with abstract
Hours: Full-time Permanent (some evenings and weekends)
Salary: $3,274.37 - $3,843.13/month per
Canadian Union of Public Employees Local #3077 collective agreement
