Description

The Town of Kindersley is seeking four (4) enthusiastic and hard-working individuals to join our summer student team with the Department of Transportation and Environment (Public Works). Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution this fall.

Duties & Responsibilities
-    Manual labour, mostly outdoors
-    Assisting with day to day functions of the department including but not limited to:
Street Maintenance, including but not limited to, patching, crack sealing, line marking, and sweeping streets
Traffic Control, including but not limited to, the maintenance of street signs and traffic control signs
Drainage, including but not limited to, clearing debris and blockages from catch basins, and removing weeds and debris from ditches
-    Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications
-    Must possess a valid Driver's license
-    Be able to work in an independent environment and as part of a team
-    Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour under adverse field (outdoor) conditions.
-    The following skills are preferred but not necessary:
Equipment experience in municipal or comparable operations.
Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various Public Works processes
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
Knowledge of First Aid and CPR

This is a seasonal full-time in-scope position requiring 40 hours per week (including shift work and weekends) from May 2 to September 2, 2016.
