Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology. The position is available July 1, 2016. The successful applicant must have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree. A DVM or MD, postdoctoral research and teaching experience are highly desirable. The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program the following area:
Host-pathogen interactions - Infectious disease at the whole animal level. Possible areas of focus include host response, role of the microbiome in health and disease, in vitro and in vivo models of infectious disease processes.
The department conducts research and training in the area of infectious disease at the interface of animal, human and environmental health, united by an interest in addressing complex One Health issues at local, national and international levels. The department has a vibrant graduate studies program with approximately 30 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students actively engaged in research. The department is currently engaged in a recruitment effort that will result in the hiring of a total of three new faculty members. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package.
