We are seeking a full time support worker to work in our home with our 8 year old, non-verbal autistic daughter. We run an in-home Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) program and will provide all training to the right candidate. The job is fun and offers a rewarding experience for the employee and the child they help. Ideal candidate is passionate about helping children, motivated by making a positive difference in the lives of others, dedicated to implementing effective treatment programs and collecting related data and a desire for continuous growth and learning. Also responsible for meal preparation, hygiene maintenance and light household duties.
The position is a permanent full-time position. Community outings, outdoor play, swimming skills, and life skills acquisition are part of every day programming. The childs programming is overseen by Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs) and we offer a hands-on learning opportunity with comprehensive in-depth training. Training wage is $12/hour, $18/hour upon completion of required competencies.
Qualifications:
A University Degree (preferably in Psychology, Communication Disorders, Special Education, Elementary Education, or other related field) is preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently, follow direction and implement ongoing supervisory oversight.
Interest in working with children who have challenging behaviours and developmental disabilities.
Able to drive, possess a valid drivers license with good driving history and have use of an automobile to travel to and from the childs home and transportation of the child as necessary.
