Description

The Kahkewistahaw First Nation Education Department is seeking a highly motivated, patient, caring individual with a friendly and pleasant personality to fill the term position of Head Start Liaison worker. The role of the Liaison worker will work with families that have children that are eligible to attend the Head Start program and encourage families to have all children participate. The Head Start program will end June 2016.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To work with the Head Start Coordinator in providing and facilitating programming
- To assist in planning and providing programs which include outings, that meet the safety, emotional and special needs of the children
- To be familiar with the children's individual needs as a team member
- To provide for the welfare and safety of the children during both on and off site activities
- To ensure daily recording of the names, ages and parent/guardian names and making note of any special needs
- To support and train, when requested, relief staff or practicum students
- To participate in professional development opportunities when available
Qualifications:
- Certification in Early Childhood Development is required
- Grade 12 or equivalent education/work experience would be an asset
- Possess valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Possess the Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Be a team player and have the ability to work with little or no supervision
- Have the ability to maintain professionalism in all situations
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Be punctual, dependable, and ensure that confidential matters remain confidential
- Possess a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle
