Our boutique legal client, located in the downtown Regina core, is looking for a Legal Assistant to join their firm. Candidates must have exposure and experience in Intellectual Property, preferably with at least 3 years of related legal experience. This role would be supporting associates with a variety of administrative tasks; candidates must be highly organized, possess exceptional communication skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist with IP files, including trademark file preparation.
- Review incoming correspondence and assist in drafting letters to clients.
- Conduct searches in various databases in order to assess availability of trademarks and patents, as well as any addition research required.
- Maintain a schedule of dates for action, and manage files in accordance to timelines.
- Communicate costs (invoicing) and process to clients, and provide status checks on their file.
- Run checks for conflicts and process file transfer to appropriate recipients.
- Communicate with clients - answer inquires, follow up as needed, provide information, etc.
- Other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in IP, trademark and litigation.
- Legal Assistant/Paralegal education or an equivalency of training and experience.
- Must have exceptional communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized when details are important.
- Proficiency in MS Office is required.
