Description

Sun West School Division invites applications for a Transportation Supervisor in the Sun West School Division Office, Rosetown, SK.  This is a permanent position commencing on or before June 1, 2016. Reporting to the Superintendent of Business, the Transportation Supervisor will provide leadership and support for the service delivery areas in the division to ensure the safe and effective transportation system.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees and ensures all division vehicles are in good repair.
Provides leadership for the supervision and evaluation of all employees under his/her supervision.
Works with the Human Resources team in recruiting, hiring, training, promoting and addressing performance issues.
Communicates with bus drivers, schools, school based administration and division office staff in an ongoing manner.
Liaises with parents and staff
Develops and maintains a positive liaison with bus garage staff, drivers, school administrators, local municipal authorities and the Highway Traffic Board.
Reviews vehicle monitoring devices as required.
Reviews and assesses the organization of bus routes and schedules and makes recommendations for change.
Provides leadership in the area of bus regulations and legislation such as lobbying, SGI insurance claims, and bus light bylaws (tracking and appeals).
Makes application to Department of Highways, rural municipal authorities regarding signage, road conditions and other matters.
Generates and presents regular reports and reviews of transportation-related budgets, finances, contracts, expenditures and purchases to the Board.
Analyzes, understands and manages cost and budgetary issues related to all division vehicles.

Qualifications and skills:
Minimum of a degree, diploma or certificate in a discipline related to transportation
Several years of supervisory experience in the transportation industry

Some travel will be required to fulfill the duties of this position.
