The MLTC Office of Education is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Assistant Superintendent of Education. The Assistant Superintendent of Education will work as part of the MLTC Education Management Team and will report directly to the Superintendent of Education.
The Assistant Superintendent's duties shall include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising Early Literacy Interventionist (ELIs) in our nine communities, and monitoring their performance as per the official Office of Education organizational chart and MLTC guidelines.
- Performing teacher evaluations
- Coordinating MLTC Office of Education initiatives with the MLTC departments.
- Support principals with School Success Plans.
- Support principals with School Success Rubric.
- Supporting our Early Literacy Project 2015-2020.
- Act as a liaison with the MLTC Human Resources Department to support Education needs:
- Promoting MLTC Office of Education initiatives and monitoring personnel (ELIs) to ensure that they are delivering services as per guidelines and policies.
- Reviewing and collating monthly staff reports and providing a summary document to the Superintendents of Education each month.
- Chairing regular principal and vice-principal meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree and/or Master's Degree in Education/Administration or be enrolled in a Masters of Education program.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Principal.
- Must possess supervisory experience.
- Must possess financial and budgeting experience and be knowledgeable in human resources processes.
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal/Written); networking/relationship building skills; decision making skills; professional judgment skills: and organizational/time-management skills.
- Knowledgeable of FN culture and how it pertains to education and quality outcomes.
- Willing to travel to the First Nation Communities.
