The CLSI, in co-operation with the University of Saskatchewan, is offering a unique opportunity for a one-year postdoctoral Research Associate position at the Mid IR beamline. The Mid Infrared Spectromicroscopy beamline provides state-of-the-art Fourier Transform IR spectrometers and infrared microscopes to supply diffraction-limited spatial resolution as well as novel imaging techniques to an ever-widening range of infrared spectromicroscopy experiments. Research and development explores new experiments and re-examines existing techniques by applying the advantages of high-brightness infrared synchrotron light.
Responsibilities: In the framework of the CHIR-THRUST program, under the supervision of Dr. Scott Rosendahl (Mid IR Staff Scientist) and Dr. Bogdan Popescu (Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Saskatchewan), the successful applicant will be expected to:
Develop imaging capabilities of the beamline with the use of infrared focal plane array detectors and multiple beamline optics.
Demonstrate these capabilities by conducting experiments with tissue sections involving multiple sclerosis models combining infrared and other imaging methods.
Conduct experiments and data analysis independently, prepare research papers for publication, present findings at seminars and conferences, and document research investigations such that results can be easily reproduced.
Assist in the normal operation of the beamline, which includes providing training and support to users in data collection and analysis
Provide technical assistance on the beamline
Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
