Some of the duties are:
Caring for clients experiencing acute mental distress or who have an enduring mental illness;
Building relationships with clients to encourage trust, while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns;
Ensuring the correct administration of medication, injections, methadone, subuxone, and/or monitoring the results treatment;
Responding and intervening with distressed or suicidal clients in a non-threatening manner and attempting to understand the source of distress and intervene;
Preparing and participating in group and/or one-to-one therapy sessions, both individually and with other health professionals;
Providing evidence-based individual therapy, such as cognitive behavior therapy for depression and anxiety;
Preparing and maintaining client records;
Producing care plans and risk assessments for individual clients;
Ensuring that the legal requirements appropriate to a particular setting or group of clients are observed;
Working with clients families helping to educate them and the clients about their mental health problems;
Promoting the recovery based approach to care;
And Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing;
Registration and in good standing with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS);
Working closely with Wellness worker and Prevention & Recovery worker;
Ability to work collaboratively within a health team environment;
A highly motivated, self-directed individual with effective interpersonal communication and organizational skills;
Must report to Stanley Mission Health Service Committee on a monthly basis.
