Downtown YMCA Youth, Preschool and Inclusive Summer Program Director
Department: Youth-Downtown YMCA
Direct Supervisor: General Manager Health, Fitness & Membership
Hours of Work:
May-August: Full Time, 40 hours per week
September-April: Part Time, 16 hours per week (Saturday 9-2, Flexible Admin Hours).
Key Areas:
The Downtown Youth Director is responsible to undertake all necessary actions in order for Youth, Preschool and Summer programming to operate efficiently. This will include, but shall not be limited to:
Provide leadership in the implementation of activities that help promote social development, personal development, recreation and nutrition in children and youth.
Provide leadership in the implementation of physical literacy programming into program activities.
Plan, develop, and implement Youth & Preschool Saturday programs.
Maintain budget for program areas, track spending.
Build relationships with all program participants and families.
Be a strong leader, mentor and role model for all participants and staff.
Promotion of the program via various methods to potential participants and referral agencies.
Work with Autism Resource Centre Summer Program Director to ensure effective delivery of Inclusive Summer Programs.
Administration of all camper registrations.
Skills Required:
Experience in program planning for children and youth ages 3-17.
Experience building relationships with youth.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Supervisory experience an asset.
Well developed communication skills oral and written.
Self motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to handle several tasks at once and set different program priorities.
Requirements and Security Clearance Check
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than 3 months prior to your start date.
