Description

Saskatoon Racing Canoe Club (SRCC) is a non-profit recreational organization committed to offering quality programs in sprint canoe and kayak, war canoe, dragon boat. We are currently hiring a part-time temporary position for the 2015 summer season.

SRCC is looking for energetic students who are willing to work with children and adults and love physical activity. If you like being outdoors and being on the water, this is a perfect opportunity for you.  While paddling experience is an asset, it is not a requirement.  SRCC is willing to teach you the basic paddling skills needed to coach our entry level paddlers. Experienced coaches will mentor and work alongside our new coaches so that you build confidence and comfort in your role.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Instructing/coaching summer day camps in July and August.  This includes organizing dry-land activities, and basic on-water paddling.  You will work alongside another coach in providing a fun and safe camp experience.

Instructing basic learn to paddle classes for youth and/or adults after a period of mentorship from experienced coaches.  Learn-to paddle classes run in the evenings throughout July 2 -August 14.  

Leading school groups in paddling and/or dragon boat classes during May and June.  This includes working with another coach and the teacher to provide fun and safe entry level paddling exposure to school groups both on the river and the city ponds.

Work under the direction of the head coach and executive to promote our sport and club at various venues/events
Attend staff meetings

Qualifications:

Standard first aid and CPR
Valid drivers liscense
Boat safety course
Previous Coaching Experience or Related Schooling
Proven leadership, organizational and communication skills
Respect in Sport (to be completed before commencement of duties)
