Description

The Northwest School Division #203 is looking for a highly trustworthy, personally motivated and enthusiastic professional.  As the Supervisor of Payroll, you will ensure the payroll is processed in a timely, accurate manner and in accordance with division's administration policies. The duties will commence May 1, 2016, or as mutually agreeable.

Responsibilities and Duties, includes but not limited to:

- Payroll management over the department to accurately and timely pay for appropriately 850 division staff; ensuring compliance with collective agreements, contracts, policies and procedures, statutory and regulatory requirements
- Preparing month end reports, remittances, general ledge entries, ROEs, WCB claims
- Administration of the employee benefit plan
- Be willing to engage in lifelong learning with respect to training and professional development and have or obtain a professional designation Payroll Compliance Practitioner (CPC) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)
- Undertakes tasks assigned by the Superintendent of Human Resources and Chief Financial Officer

The successful candidate will have:

- University Degree in Accounting and/or Financial Management, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with responsibilities that include payroll administration, employee benefit plan administration, pensions, employment agreements; union and non-union, personnel files management and the supervision of payroll staff
- Experience managing electronic software including establishing payroll calculations programming and report writing; preference given to Dynamics Navision Accounting software experience; as well as AppliTrack (HRIS), Excel and Word
- Excellent understanding and application of payroll/benefits legislation, employment laws and regulations
- Demonstrates a high level of confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills
