A senior level administration position.Works closely with the Director of Planning & Development in following policies for the handling of various responsibilities. The duties include:
Receives Building Permit applications & plans, reviews the applications & plans for compliance with the Citys Zoning Bylaw and UBAS Act & Regulations. Issues Building Permits and conducts all the required inspections to confirm compliance with the applicable codes and regulations. Reports monthly to Council on the details regarding all permits issued for the month and year-to-date totals.
Ensures that there are detailed records of all permits issued, plans received and inspections completed on all projects in the City and is responsible for maintaining the filing system of all these records.
Issues Plumbing Permits and collects the fees for submission to the Prairie North Health Region for all projects in the City of North Battleford. Reports annually to Council on the number & money collected on all Plumbing Permits issued for the year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Grade 12 education with courses in accounting highly desirable.
Possession of a valid Class 3 Saskatchewan Building Official Licence plus five years related experience OR
Possession of a Saskatchewan Journeyman Carpenter Certificate plus five years additional building experience and possession of a valid Class 1 Saskatchewan Building Official License with the ability to obtain within two years after date of hire, Class 2 & Class 3 Saskatchewan Building Official Licences,
Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence, and a vehicle suitable for use in the performance of duties.
Thorough knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and of The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act and Regulations of Saskatchewan.
Knowledge of all pertinent standards, regulations, policies, procedures and bylaws.
Ability to interpret, and make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
- Trade certification in related field
- Certification by a provincial or territorial association
