Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ
Is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for youth at risk in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.
This position is within EGADZ Youth Centre for the Drop-In component and is responsible for the day to day operation of the kitchen and related areas. This would include:
Plan and prepare a nutritious supper meal for the youth Monday thru Saturday with the assistance of the youth workers.
Organize the management of the kitchen, pantry, cooler, and deep freezes, and any other food related areas, including cleaning, safety, and supplies.
Budget and organize the food purchases of the center
Organize and incorporate any donations of food to the center
The person in this position is responsible for the organizing and implementation of these duties with the help of the youth workers and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Experience/Training in a Kitchen environment and safe food handling practices
Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, partnering agencies.
Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in an oral and written form.
Knowledge of food budgeting and preparing large nutritious meals on a limited budget
Knowledge of Aboriginal culture
Must have a valid drivers license
Salaries are based on EGADZ current salary grid. $16.50 - $18.60 per hour.
