Description

Leading Thunderbird Lodge is a residential treatment facility for First Nations and Inuit youth from across Canada who are experiencing challenges with alcohol, drug or solvent misuse.  The Lodge is seeking to fill the following position for a Traditional/Cultural/Helper.
You will support the Cultural Coordinator in the development and implementation of the First Nations cultural programming for the Lodge.  The program will integrate traditional teachings in promoting growth and development of youth in the areas of: mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.  This position will support the youth in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of their identity, history, culture, ceremonies and traditions.  The successful candidate must be a mature, energetic, responsible and professional individual.  The candidate must have lived experience, knowledege and active participation in their First Nations culture.
The successful candidate:
Participates in cultural activities for the youth
Participates in maintaining positive working relationships between LTL and First Nation cultural community
Assists as a facilitator in the treatment of youth and provides counselling and guidance as necessary
Provides support by identifying and integrating cultural programming and resource materials as required
Supports the development of annual cultural workplans and budgets for the implementation of culturally relevant programs and services for clients
Assist with preperation of monthly cultural activity workplans and program reports
Assists in completion of required administrative and financial documentation to implement the cultural program
Assists in maintaining and complying with security for the safety of clients
Assist with overall supervision of youth to ensure staff / youth ratios are maintained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 10 or equivalent and one year of direct work experience in cultural programming
Valid Sask. drivers license, physical dexterity
