Description

The University of Saskatchewan and WestGrid/Compute Canada partner to provide advanced research computing support, including high performance computing, high performance storage, and data management support to researchers at the University, and across Canada.  In association with the Canadian Association of Research Libraries/PORTAGE, Compute Canada/WestGrid and the University are undertaking a national research data management (RDM) project to develop research data repository technology capable of meeting Canadian research preservation and discovery needs at the national scale.  The outcomes of this project will be foundational to Canadas RDM strategy and services.

The Lead Software Developer (Canadian Research Data Management project), as a member of the Research Computing group in ICT, leads software design and implementation of a Canadian research data management repository system, both developing new code and leveraging existing open- and closed-source repository software.  Work will be carried out in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan Library, and staff from the Canadian Association of Research Libraries, Research Data Canada, and Compute Canada.  This position is responsible for making design decisions with broad and long-ranged impact to Canadas data management strategy and capability, and to the Universitys reputation in the field of research data management.  The Lead Software Developer is a key resource responsible for implementing a research data repository software framework capable of addressing the data archiving, discoverability, and preservation needs of thousands of Canadian researchers.
