Description

Foremost has an immediate opening for a full-time Intermediate Accountant located at our facility in Lloydminster, Alberta.  This position is a contract position ending June 30, 2016.  As an integral member of the finance team, he/she will provide analysis and preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements, journal entries, creation and review of reports in a manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

Responsible for monthly file preparation and journal entries
Analyze business unit performance against key performance indicators
Partner and collaborate with operational teams throughout the organization to improve financial information for decision makers
Responsible for revenue recognition and work in progress calculations
Assist in creating and improving internal reporting information
Take a proactive approach in evaluating and identifying process efficiencies by challenging current procedures and activities
Responsible for period-end close procedures
Work to resolve ERP issues related to capital assets, reports, coding and setup
Assist with preparing deliverables for the external auditors

The ideal candidate will have an Accounting Diploma from an accredited institution recognized by the CPA program combined with 1-2 years working experience. You must have a solid understanding of IFRS and Canadian Accounting Standards and understand benchmarks and KPIs in their use to analyze financial results. Advance proficiency of MS Excel and effective communication skills at all levels of the organization is required for this position. Previous experience with complex ERP systems and FIFO inventory costing method in a manufacturing environment is an asset for this role.
