Description

Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Youth Worker is responsible to help facilitate personal, social and educational growth in young people in residence at the White Buffalo Treatment Centre in order to help them reach their full potential in society. They will be part of a cohesive team of clinical professionals that provide personal support to residents in the treatment and prevention of substance use and concurrent disorders. Youth Workers will provide direct goal-oriented assistance to the youth residents while ensuring their safety and being attentive and responsive to their needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:      
Education and Experience:
Certificate or Diploma in the field of social work, psychology, education, or human services AND three (3) years direct work experience
OR
Bachelors Degree in the field of social work, psychology, education, or human services AND one (1) year direct work experience

Other Requirements:
Ability to use de-escalation skills with youth clients and seek assistance from Supervisor and/or other staff
Ability to understand the awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of youth and youth culture that WBYTC serves
Knowledge of accepted and effective techniques for working with at risk youth with diverse family dynamics
Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills
Ability to impact client retention through mentoring, motivation, and monitoring practices
Detailed knowledge of all current Microsoft Office software applications and programs, including an aptitude and working knowledge of computer courseware and hardware
Requires CPR and First Aid certification in order to attend to minor injuries, etc.
