Description

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for Labourer positions for the Infrastructure and Operations Division.  Positions are permanent full-time.

Under the direction of the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Superintendent, you will be part of the crew which is responsible for construction, repair and maintenance of the water distribution system, the sanitary sewage collection and disposal system. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Streets and Roadways, you will be part of the crew which is responsible for maintenance of streets, lanes, bridges, underground storm drainage collection system, sidewalks, buildings, etc.

Advancement in positions in the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection and Streets and Roadways Departments are attainable through skills certification.  

Basic Requirements:
. Grade XII Education;
. Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check;
. Previous related experience and proven ability to perform the duties in an efficient and skillful manner;
. Possession of, or ability to obtain Water and/or Wastewater Certification. Training as required by the Water Security Agency.  (Preference will be given to candidates who have completed appropriate training);
. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 3A (Air Brake endorsement) Saskatchewan Drivers License;
. Flag person Training;
. OH&S Level 1;
. Must be physically fit and able to perform outside physical labour at all times of the year including various weather conditions and temperature extremes; and
. Ability to work well with other employees.

Desirable Requirements:
. Water/Waste Water Certification;
. Confined Space;
. Ground Disturbance;
. H2S Alive; and
. Fall Protection.

The salary range is $18.52 to $20.88 per hour salary under review)
