Job Description: Under the direction of the Manager Primary Health Care Development, the Midwife is responsible to give necessary care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct deliveries on her own responsibility and to care for the infant and the mother. This care includes preventative measures, the detection of abnormal conditions in the mother and child, accessing medical assistance when necessary and taking emergency measures in the absence of medical help.
Please note that this classification falls within the HSAS bargaining unit, however, the current HSAS collective agreement is not applicable to this classification. The terms and conditions of employment are currently being negotiated.
Required Qualifications
CPR Level C certificate
Completion of a relevant post-secondary education/training program
Eligible for licensure with a regulated health care body.
Experience
Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation including intubation (NRP)
Graduate of an educational program approved by the Saskatchewan College of Midwives
Current active practicing registration with Saskatchewan College of Midwives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Valid drivers license
Other Information
Must be able to travel and have access to personal vehicle on short notice
Position requires availability to work evenings, nights, weekends and on-call responsibility
