Description

The successful candidate will be required to work at our Adolescent Group Home on a shift rotation basis involving 8am -5:30pm or 1:30pm -11pm shifts during the week, as well as 10am - 10pm or 11am - 11pm on alternate weekends, totalling about 75 hours bi-weekly.  The candidate may be asked, in cases of emergency, to work other flexible hours including overnight shifts.  The candidate will be responsible to care for youth ages 12 to 17 in care of the Ministry of Social Services or the Health Region, who may have mild to medium-level behavior management issues.  This position falls under the collective bargaining agreement between SGEU and SIGN.  The starting wage is $17.65/hr, with a comprehensive benefits package available after a required probationary period. The position offered is a 3 to 12 month term beginning immediately, with some conditions
Essential qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
-    Knowledge of childhood and adolescent development
-    Familiar with issues of at-risk youth
-    Ability to supervise and provide care to adolescents
-    Able to communicate well with and establish professional rapport with adolescents
-    Able to handle stressful situations and a busy environment
-    Good conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
-    Training and/or experience in the human services field
-    Strong organizational and planning skills
-    Excellent verbal and written communication
-    Able to lead and participate in recreational activities with youth
-    Ability to work independently or as part of a team
-    Certified in First Aid/CPR, or willing and able to take this training as soon as possible
-    Valid Saskatchewan Driver?s license and Saskatchewan health coverage
-    All successful candidates will be required to provide 3 references and supply a criminal record "vulnerable sector"  check as well as a Child Abuse Registry check
