The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking individual for the position of the Water Quality Technician.
The Water Quality Technician is responsible for the following:
Duties:
Collecting a& testing drinking water samples from households/public facilities/water sources (e.g. wells and cisterns) according to departmental policies and procedures
Completes record sheets regarding water collection & test results
Forward results of water tests to the appropriate authority
Notifies householders/public facility managers/ appropriate authorities if water is unsafe to drink, & consults with the appropriate authorities to advise on corrective measures
Educates the community on proper water storage practices & educates children on the importance of safe drinking water
Delivers written and oral reports to the Council
Orders required laboratory equipment and supplies
Creates quarterly and annual reports for EHO
Qualifications:
Have a minimum grade 12 education with some previous knowledge of water treatment practices
Level 1 Water and Wastewater training certification is considered to be an asset
Be willing to travel and must possess a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle
Must submit a current CPIC
Work irregular or extended hours to complete special requests/ projects
Manage a number of people/priorities/projects at one time, and may have to respond to emergency or crisis situations
The environment requires excellent organizational/time management/ stress management skills

Salary: To Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Combination of education/relevant training/ work experience will be considered.
Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal ancestry under exemption E-96 of the Human Rights Code. Shortlist candidates must be able to provide a current original copy of the CPIC at the time of the interview & 3 written reference letters.
