Own the process equipment and, in addition to being trained in operating the equipment, they are also trained as equipment care specialists.
Responsible for minor maintenance on process equipment and for initiating maintenance or engineering support activities. (ie: work permits)
Set up, prepare and adjust potash ore processing machinery to carry out one or more steps in the overall processing operation.
Start up and shut down the production system in cases of emergency or as required by schedule.
Shut down, isolate and prepare process units or production equipment for maintenance.
Sample products; perform routine tests of products, and record data.
Participate in safety audits and programs and provide emergency response when required.
Safely operate mobile equipment for various purposes.
Safely load and move railcars.
Observe and adhere to all safe work practices and procedures.
Effectively and safely operate designated mill area while maximizing efficiencies.
Perform a complete area walk-around utilizing hand held unit making sure the process area the operator is responsible for is operating properly and within the normal parameters.
Perform equipment isolations and lockouts as required.
Equipment checks (bearings, idlers, fans, pumps, motors, etc.), on ALL pieces of equipment using handheld unit during area walk-around.
Check and jog all stand-by pumps once on dayshift, once on nightshift.
Take samples at least twice a shift, more frequent when necessary, for analysis either at lab or with testing equipment in the mill.
Must be an active member of the Search and Rescue Team for the crew Emergency Response Team.
Assist where needed in trouble spots throughout the mill.
This position is located at the Agrium's Vanscoy, Saskatchewan, Potash Mine facility. Vanscoy Potash Operations (VPO) is located approximately 33 kilometers southwest of Saskatoon.
