Job Description: Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Services, the Director of Communications develops and implements effecticve and timely communication strategies and plans in support of Keewatin Yatthe Regional Health Authority's safe, patient -first, wholistic healthcare objectives. The Director plays a key role in the values as well as the health region's commitment- from the Board to Senior Leadership Team, management and frontline staff- to transformational change using Lean principles of continous improvement to yeild better health, better care, better teams and better value for the benefit of regional residents. He or she is the "go to" in house expert and counselor on ensuring staff and patients are appropriately informed. This role encompasses being a champion to encourage leaders to focus on the information that staff, stakeholders and patients need as well as being a communications expert who uses multiple channels to ensure that information reaches internal and external audiences.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership team, the Director of Communications:
Promotes patient and staff safety;
Promotes a patient- first approach in delivery of programs and services;
Builds and maintains public awareness and confidence in KYRHA programs and services;
Develops and delivers effective two-way internal communications to ensure staff understand and support KYRHA values and goals and ast as health region ambassadors;
Develops and delivers effective two-way external communications to ensure patients understand their rights and obligations within the care continuum.
Required Qualifications

Must have good computer skills in the following:  Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and digital photo production
Undergraduate Degree/Diploma in Journali
